Ordinance Reducing The Number Of Justices Of The Peace

TOWN OF EAST WINDSOR

The following ordinance was adopted at a Special Town Meeting duly warned and held on June 30, 1988. Said ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days from the publication thereof.

ORDINANCE REDUCING THE NUMBER OF JUSTICES OF THE PEACE

BE IT ORDAINED:

WHEREAS the number of Justices of the Peace currently allowed   under Section 9-183a of the Connecticut General Statutes is One Hundred Seventy Six (176); and

WHEREAS, this number has proven to be unwieldy for the Town of East Windsor considering its current population; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Selectmen and the Registrar of Voters have recommended that the number of the Justices of the Peace be limited to fifty (50);

NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED Pursuant to the authority granted by Connecticut General Statutes Section 9-183a, the number of Justices of the Peace for the Town of East Windsor shall be limited to fifty (50)
