The American Heritage River Committee meets at the Warehouse Point Library meeting room on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM We invite any interested members of the community to join us.
One task the Committee has undertaken is the compilation of a brief history of the River and its relationship to East Windsor. It is astonishing how much information has been obtained about our Town’s history along the Connecticut River.
Committee members also worked with State Senator Gary LeBeau, State Representative Ted Graziani, and our first Selectman Linda Roberts, to obtain a $150,000 grant for the Town for the development and construction of Volunteer Park. Site-planning and construction plans are being drawn under the direction and guidance of Professor Mark Westa of the UConn School of Plant Sciences at Storrs, Connecticut, by students Courtney Bello and Matt Bishop. We all are working toward a late summer completion in year 2001.
Throughout the year, many volunteers and Committee members have taken time to help keep Volunteer Park looking attractive. We all wish to thank Christine Haley from East Windsor, a UConn master gardener in training, for planning, directing and working with us to keep the flower gardens looking beautiful.
