Election And Terms Of Office Of The Zoning Board Of Appeals

TOWN OF EAST WINDSOR

The following ordinance was adopted at a Special Town Meeting duly warned and held on March 7,1990.  Said ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days from the publication thereof.

AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE ELECTION AND TERMS OF
OFFICE OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS OF THE
TOWN OF EAST WINDSOR

1.      The Zoning Board of Appeals shall consist of five (5) regular members and a panel of three (3) alternate members.

2.      All regular members and alternates members shall be elected at the town municipal elections for a term of four (4) years, on the following schedule:

A.      Three regular members of the Zoning Board of Appeals were elected at the municipal election in 1987.  Said three members shall hold office until their terms expire at the municipal election in 1991, at which time, and quadrennially thereafter, said three positions shall be filled at the municipal election, with the three members elected to hold office from the date of their election and until their successors are elected and duly qualified.

B.      Two regular members of the Zoning Board of Appeals were elected at the municipal election in 1989.  Said two members shall hold office until their terms expire at the municipal election 1993, at which time, and quadrennially thereafter, said two position shall be filled at the municipal election, with the two members elected to hold office from the date of their election and until their successors are elected and duly qualified.

C.      Three alternate members of the Zoning Board of Appeals were elected at the municipal election in 1987 for a term of four years.  Said alternate members shall hold office until their terms expire at the municipal election 1991, at which time, and quadrennially thereafter, said alternate positions shall be filled at the municipal election, with the alternate members elected to hold office from the date of their election and until their successors are elected and duly qualified.

3.      Any vacancy in the regular members or in the panel of alternates shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term of such regular or alternate member by the Board of Selectmen, said vacancy to be filled by a person of the same political party as the person vacating said office.


4.      An elector may vote for the number of regular members to be elected at that election, but in the year the three alternates are to be elected, no elector may vote for more than two alternate members.
