Ordinance Concerning The Removal Of Snow And Ice
Town of East Windsor

The following ordinance was adopted at a Special Town Meeting duly warned and held on January 23, 1968:

AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE REMOVAL OF SNOW AND ICE

THE TOWN OF EAST WINDSOR IN SPECIAL TOWN MEETING CONVENED HEREBY ORDAINS AND ENACTS:

The owner or owners, occupant or occupants, corporate or otherwise of any building or lot of land bordering on any street, square or public place within the Town of East Windsor, where there is a side-walk graded, or graded and paved, shall cause to be removed there from any and all snow, sleet and ice, and shall cause such side-walk to be made safe for travel and use by covering the same with sand or other suitable substance to a width of thirty-six inches (36”) within twenty-four (24) hours after said snow or sleet shall have fallen or said sidewalk shall have become slippery by reason of ice forming thereon, or within (24) hours after sunrise when said snow or sleet shall fallen after 8:00 p.m., in the night season, or said sidewalk shall have become slippery by reason of ice forming thereon after 8:00 p.m., in the night season.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall be finded not more than fifty (50) dollars.
The foregoing ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after the publication thereof.
